The theme of _List Vol. 21 is Korea’s Apartment Buildings. Under the four subthemes “Confessions of a Knock-off Apartment Kid from the 1980s,” “It’s the Apartment, Stupid!” “The Apartment: Mirage of the Middle Class,” and “Imagined Spaces: the Apartment in Literature,” this issue explores Korea’s housing culture through an essay by Jeong Yi Hyun, the real estate market flow, and eight literary works that feature apartment buildings. In addition, this issue features interviews with literary critic Lee O-young and novelist Chun Un-yeong, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature, and the translation of Kim Hoon’s short story “My Sister’s Menopause" (from the Collection of the Hwang Sun-Won Literary Award-Winning Works, 2005) and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
