This collection introduces representative short stories from Korea, published from the 1950s to the 1980s. A total of 11 short stories are included, featuring Yi Mun-yol’s “Geumsijo” (금시조 The Golden Phoenix) as the title piece, along with Son Chang-sop’s “Bioneun nal” (비오는 날 Rainy Days) and Ha Keun-Chan’s “Sunanidae” (수난이대 The Suffering of Two Generations).

이 책은 1950년대부터 1980년대까지 발표된 한국의 대표적인 단편 소설들을 모아 소개한 책이다. 이문열의 「금시조」를 표제작으로 포함하여 손창섭의 「비오는 날」, 하근찬의 「수난이대」 등 총 11편의 작품이 수록되어 있다.
