This is the full text of the English translation of Kim Ji Yeon’s short story “When I Start Weeping” in the Bookmark section of KLN Vol. 59. The story features a protagonist, who is now a ghost, reminiscing about her memories with Sahm, her ex-boyfriend in life, and witnessing and reflecting on not only her death but also deaths of others. Through this process, the author develops the idea that death is losing the place where your heart can settle and scattering, meaning that life is premised on the presence of someone, others, where your heart can settle.
