2016년 제16회 황순원문학상을 수상한 정용준을 비롯해 후보작들을 수록한 작품집이다. 문학상을 수상한 정용준의 <선릉산책>을 비롯하여 이기호의 <오래전 김숙희는>, 권여선의 <당신이 알지 못하나이다>, 김금희의 <고양이는 어떻게 단련되는가> 등 모두 8편의 작품이 수록되어 있다. <선릉산책>은 자폐증을 앓는 청년과 그를 돌보는 일당 아르바이트를 하는 내가 산책을 하는 이야기로, 인간적인 것에 대한 질문을 던지는 작품이다. 그 외 후보작으로 오른 작품들 역시 2016년 당시 한국문학의 흐름을 부분적으로 확인할 수 있는 작품으로 현실과 마주하는 인물들의 고통과 비애를 작가마다의 시선으로 다루고 있다.

This collection introduces the short stories shortlisted for the Hwang Sun-won Literary Award in 2016, with the title story, “A Walk Along Seolleung” by Jung Yong-jun, as the Best Story winner,. The other stories in the collection are “Old Kim Sukhui” by Lee Kiho, “You Have No Idea” by Kwon Yeo-sun, and “How a Cat Trains Itself” by Kim Keum Hee. “A Walk Along Seolleung” questions what it is to be human through the story of the main character going on a walk with an autistic boy. Each story in the collection provides a unique insight into the literary themes and concerns of 2016.
