This is an introductory booklet on author kang seuk kyong, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The authors participated in the main program in October and the pre-sessional events. Author kang seuk kyong participated in the main program in October and special events in June. This 25-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of Underwater Room’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by the literary critic Lee Kyung-hoon and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Author kang seuk kyong participated in literary events in Stuttgart and Regensburg in June and then at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October. Her work ‘Underwater Room’ is included in the collection of Korean short stories published in German by dtv.
