Plot

In Seoul, amidst the ongoing war, the narrator experiences her brother's death. After the event, the narrator gets married and desperately struggles to make a living, as she endures the fear of life and death.

This is an autobiographical novel by Park Wansuh, published in 1995. In this works, the author novelized the pain, wounds, and chaos she experienced from 1951 to 1953, including the Korean War, the death of her brother, and her own marriage.

1995년에 출간된 박완서의 자전적 장편소설이다. 전쟁과 오빠의 죽음, 작가 자신의 결혼 등  1951~1953년까지 경험한 고통과 상처, 혼돈을 소설화했다.
