These sourcebooks were planned and produced to enhance the overall understanding of overseas Korean literature and to expand the territory of literary enjoyment. A total of 16 overseas Korean literature researchers focusing on the Americas, Japan, Russia-Central Asia, and China participated as writers, covering a wide range of topics from the formation process of overseas Korean literature to current status and prospects by region. The volume on Korean Literature in the Americas covers the creative activities of Korean Americans who have left their memories and footsteps through literature in Korean and local languages in the history of Korean immigration to the United States, which began with the migration of laborers to Hawaii.
