Plot

After he is enlisted into the North Korean People's Army in July 1950, the narrator takes over the management of the volunteer soldiers from the south. He teaches them about land reforms and North Korean songs. Among the volunteers are those who demand ideological verification, careerists, and the like, and they at times cause division in their group. Sometime later, the narrator is handed over to the ROK Army, even reaching the verge of execution, but he is released.

This is a novel by Lee Ho-cheol, published in June 1996. It is based on the author’s own experience of being mobilized for the North Korean People's Army in July 1950 and then released, along with the inter-Korean relations in the 1980s and 1990s.

1996년6월에 출간한 이호철의 장편소설이다. 1950년7월 인민군에 동원되었다가 풀려난 작가의 경험과 1980년대와 90년대의 남북관계를 바탕으로 한 소설이다.
