《乙火》是金东里长篇小说的代表作。玉仙是个普通的农村姑娘，在和一位富家子弟的交往中怀了孕，为此她只得离乡背井，带着孩子艰难地生活。一次，儿子大病不愈在无奈的困境中，她去庙里求神救儿子。结果儿子病好了，她也从此变成了巫女，并改名为“乙火”。乙火在巫女的道路上越走越远，最后亲手杀害了儿子。作品把韩国农村的许多不为人知的情景，一幕幕缓缓地展现在读者的面前，让人在一种神秘、虚无的感觉中对人生、人性有个思考。小说文字浅显易懂，语言优美，带有浓厚的神秘气息。
