At age 16, Ok-seon gives birth to a boy named Yeong-sul. She entrusts him to her mother and weds a 52-year-old man. A little later, her husband dies and misfortunes befall the family. While praying in a shrine to a village deity, she becomes possessed by a spirit and becomes a shaman, changing her name to Eul-hwa. After becoming an adult, Yeong-sul returns home as a Christian. Shaman Eul-hwa confronts her son, and in the end, Eul-hwa stabs Yeong-sul.
