Plot

After her husband's death on the road, Seungho's mother takes her young son Seungho to her parents and her brother-in-law's houses, but she is unable to remain in those places for long. As she wanders the snowy wilderness with her son who is suffering from whooping cough, hoping that her son will finish her husband's work.

1935년 잡지 <개벽>에 발표된 단편소설이다. 이 작품은 남편이 죽은 이후 가족과 친척 어디에서도 발을 붙일 곳 없는 가난한 여성의 절망적 상황을 형상화하고 있다.
