Check AvailabilityHan Yeong-deok, a doctor at Pyongyang University Hospital, treats soldiers wounded in the war. However, he is on the verge of being shot to death because he treated ordinary people first instead of the family members of the party cadres. He avoids the crisis thanks to the arrival of the ROK army in Pyongyang and flees to South Korea. Yeong-deok works with an unlicensed doctor to perform an abortion but feels guilty about it. Then he is arrested on espionage charges. After serving time in prison, Yeong-deok works as a mortician and dies without anyone taking care of him.
