1986년에 출간된 이성복 시인의 두 번째 시집이다. 표제시인 <남해금산>을 포함하여 76편의 시가 수록되어 있다. 이 시집은 이야기를 담고 있는 서사시적 구조로 이루어져 있다. 화자는 어떤 치욕을 갖고 살아가고 있으나, 모성을 통해 점차 치욕으로부터 벗어난다. 서사적 구조를 가지면서도 한국적 서정을 바탕에 둔 전통적인 시쓰기를 보여주며, 우리의 조각난 삶과 서러움을, 슬픔을 비극적으로 드러낸다.

Published in 1986, this second collection with 76 poems by Lee Seong-bok tells the epic story of the main character whose life is marked with some unknown humiliation that he has suffered. He slowly recovers from it through maternal love. In an epic narrative with Korean sentiments and traditional lyricism, the poems express broken lives, tragedies, and sorrows.
