2018 International Symposium at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Italy (diaspora literature): In 2018, Korean writer Son Hong-gyu was sent to a symposium hosted by the Italian Institute of Oriental Studies at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” under the theme of “Migrations in Asia: Transculturalism and Transnationalism” to encourage research and exchange in Korean literature as well as the development of readers of Korean literature in Italy. During the course of the symposium, Son Hong-gyu gave a special lecture to a Korean language class at the University of Naples, providing a chance for Italian students who are studying Korean literature to learn about Korean literature from a Korean writer.
