    영어 Book Available

    Choi Seung-ja 외 / 최승자 외 / 2006 / -

Anxiety of Words focuses on the work of three contemporary Korean women poets whose fierce poetic voices display a critical consciousness of women’s lives under patriarchy, capitalism, and neocolonialism. Each poet is represented, in bilingual format, by approximately twenty poems and a biographical introduction. The volume also contains a detailed introduction to the Korean poetry scene by translator Don Mee Choi, with a focus on the historical and contemporary role of women poets in Korea. The poetry of Ch’oe Sung-ja, Kim Hyesoon, and Yi Yon-ju consistently violates the literary expectations of gentle and subservient yoryu (female) poetry through innovative language and depictions of Korean women’s identities and struggles. https://www.abebooks.com/9780939010875/Anxiety-Words-Contemporary-Poetry-Korean-0939010879/plp

    영어 Book Available

    Choi Seung-ja / 최승자 / 2015 / KDC구분 > 문학 > 한국문학 > 한국시 > 20세기 시 > 1945-1999

This volume is a translation of Choi Seung-ja’s 1991 anthology titled Portrait of a Suburbanite. Published in the series of “100 Prominent Korean Poets” by Mirae Press, the poems in this volume were selected from four of Choi’s previous works titled, Love of This Age (1981), Merry Diary (1984), House of Memory (1989), and the subsequently published My Tomb, Green (1993). Speaking with a fierce sense of equality and independence, Choi Seung-ja’s poetry battled ossified forms of language not only on the political but also the personal front. Translating Feminisms showcases intimate collaborations and conversations between some of Asia's most exciting women writers and emerging-star translators: contemporary poetry of labour and language, alongside essays exploring how, where and by whom feminist writing and female bodies are translated. For us at Tilted Axis Press, feminist publishing means working against the fetishisation of 'oppression' and demands that authors explicitly subscribe to what white women recognise as feminism, or even foreground their femaleness in their work. We work towards ensuring that the women we publish have the creative agency to contextualise their own work, resisting the commodification and/or erasure of their femaleness on their own terms. As part of Tilted Axis's wider project of decolonisation through and of translation, and in response to seeing women authors of colour misread through a white feminist lens, we wanted to re-imagine the possibilities of a fully intersectional, international feminism. In the process, we ve expanded our own conception of feminist writing and being we hope these chapbooks will do the same for you.   Source : https://www.amazon.com/Against-Healing-Nine-Korean-Poets/dp/1911284312
