To inform others of my discoveries and to find friends of common interests, I have traveled widely. I have attended many international academic conferences and given lectures frequently at foreign universities. The nine articles composing this book have been selected from the papers prepared for those conferences. An introductory volume for the Korean mask dance. In this book, the author's prime object is to relieve the mask dance from the tarnished reputation it suffers as a strange performance for curious onlookers and to show that it deserves proper understanding like other traditional  art forms. Auteurs Cho Dong-il est professeur de littérature coréenne à l'université nationale de Seoul. Daniel Bouchez est directeur de recherche au CNRS et spécialisé dans l'étude de la littérature classique coréenne. “Đông Á” là chủ đề không chỉ khu vực Đông Á mà cả thế giới đều đang tập trung hướng tới. Trong bối cảnh thời cuộc như vậy, Lí luận nền văn minh Đông Á có thể được coi là tài liệu vô cùng quý. Trước đây người ta vẫn cho rằng Đông Á thì chỉ nói đến Trung Quốc, Hàn Quốc và Nhật Bản nhưng Cho Dong-il đã định nghĩa về khu vực Đông Á trong tài liệu này là đương nhiên phải bao gồm cả Việt Nam. Điều này được khẳng định rất rõ và thể hiện cụ thể ở những nội dung trong tương quan so sánh giữa các nước trong Đông Á. Mặc dù như tác giả tự nhận thì tài liệu về Việt Nam với ông còn hạn chế nhưng ông đã nỗ lực nghiên cứu sâu để có những nhận định xác đáng và khách quan về Việt Nam, cố gắng để không quá lệch về lượng khi so sánh với các nước Đông Á khác. Ngay tiêu đề của cuốn sách cũng được viết bằng cả 4 thứ tiếng. Vì thế, tài liệu này rất ấn tượng và lại càng quý với người Việt Nam.
