【5巻あらすじ】
第二部に入った物語の舞台は朝鮮から豆満江を越えた満州の地、間島だ。
趙俊九の支配から逃れて移住した西姫は、この地で商売をする月仙の叔父・孔の助力を得て財を成していた。
奪われた崔参判家の土地と財産を取り戻すことだけを考える西姫と、平沙里から同行
してきた吉祥、龍らの間には微妙な距離が生まれる。幼い頃から続く李相鉉との愛憎も、西姫にとっては自らを奮い立たせる力の源となった。利己的な愛ゆえに孤独感にさいなまれる西姫は結婚相手を決めようとしていたが、それすらもまた、自分の目指すところに向かうための手段でしかないのか。
