【0８巻あらすじ】
二人の息子の母親になった西姫は、穏やかさを得たようにも見えるが、内に秘める生来の激しさと誇り高さゆえに、吉祥との間の溝は埋まらない。
崔参判家奪還のため、趙俊九を丸裸にする策謀を西姫に託された孔老人は、この仕事にのめり込む。そこには九泉(環)も一枚かんでいた。
その九泉が龍井に現れ、西姫は母を奪った男の素性を知る。独立運動で重要な役割を担う九泉との再会は、吉祥にも大きな影響を与え、ある行動に導く。彼らの周辺には、密偵・金頭洙の怪しい影が見え隠れしていた。
一方、龍の息子・弘を育ててきた月仙は不治の病の床にあり、龍との長く切ない関係も終わりを告げようとしている。
