2005 Frankfurt Book Fair: Author Song Sokze Introductory Booklet

This is an introductory booklet on Song Sokze, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. Song Sokze participated literary events in May and in the main program in October. This 25-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of The Last 4.5 Seconds of My Life’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Lee Su-hyeong, and translated by Elke Golchert-Jung. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Song Sokze participated in literary events in Hamburg (May), the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion and Bensberg (October). Some of his short stories including ‘The Last 4.5 Seconds of My Life’ were published in German in 2009.

This is an introductory booklet on author Song Sokze, produced for the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair. On Oct 21 in Weltempfang Hall, Song Sokze and German author Juan Guse shared a conversation on the theme of “Life Is Ridiculous” and discussed their writings and perspectives with regards to Song’s novel The Amusing Life. On Oct 24, Song participated in a literary event at Literaturwerkstatt in Berlin, where he gave a reading and engaged in a discussion. This 6-page booklet consists of: “To the Author”, “A Riverside Village”, and “Reading Samples”. The excerpt is taken from The Amusing Life.

This is an introductory booklet on novelist PYUN HYE YOUNG, produced for literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and a nearby university. Between November 25 and December 2, PYUN HYE YOUNG participated in literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and University of Guadalajara, where she discussed her writing (“About My Writing”), engaged in discussion with literary researchers and answered questions from readers. She was interviewed by the local media outlets Milenio and Mural about her work “Evening Courtship”. This is an introductory booklet on novelist Kim Un-su, produced for literary events at the Tokyo International Book Fair. On June 30, Kim Un-su gave a lecture at Gakushuin University, where he talked about his literary world and fiction as well the role of literature in seeking one’s ego and identity. On July 2, at Junkudo Bookstore, Kim Un-su, together with the Japanese translator and editor of The Plotters, engaged in conversation with readers about issues arising during the translation process, as well as the charms and complications of Korean literature in translation. On July 4, Kim shared a conversation with Japanese writer Kei Nakazawa at Hosei University about several literary works from Korea and Japan, and examined the relationship between literature and society. This 15-page booklet consists of “About the Author” and “About the Work” and includes an excerpt The Plotters.
