This anthology draws from Seo Jeong Oh’s works, Uriga jeongmal araya hal uri yenniyagi baekgaji (우리가 정말 알아야 할 우리 옛이야기 백가지 100 Old tales from Korea we really should know, 1997) and its expanded edition Uriga jeongmal araya hal uri yenniyagi baekgaji 2 (우리가 정말 알아야 할 우리 옛이야기 백가지 2 100 Old tales from Korea we really should know, 1999), both published by Hyeonamsa. It features translations of 100 selected Korean folktales and legends. The second volume includes 54 stories, such as “Myeoneurikkam goreugi” (며느릿감 고르기 Selecting a daughter-in-law).

본서는 서정오가 현암사에서 펴낸 『우리가 정말 알아야 할 우리 옛이야기 백가지』(1997)와 증보판 『우리가 정말 알아야 할 우리 옛이야기 백가지 2』(1999)를 저본으로, 한국의 민담과 설화 100편을 골라 번역한 선집이다. 하권에는 「며느릿감 고르기」를 비롯하여 54편의 이야기가 실려 있다.
