Plot

This novel follows the life of Yeongsuk, a haenyeo living on the island of Jeju, from the 1930s to the 1970s. Yeongsuk supports her family by diving in the sea for a living. Her fate is intertwined with those of the other islanders, as they face the horror and tragedy of the Jeju uprising.
