Lady Yi, who was a girl from a noble family, loses her husband at a young age and raises her two sons alone. The old woman from Cheomdong takes pity on her and tries to introduce her to Junior Officer Jang, who lives alone in Seoul after losing his wife and is looking for a young widow to remarry. Lady Yi is first offended by this offer, but she is later accused of sleeping around. Kicked out of her home, Lady Yi scrapes  a living in a tavern.

This short story was written by Na Hye-seok, one of the earliest female novelists in Korea. There was to be a next installment of the same story, but it remains incomplete as it has not been found. This story is about the life and downfall of a woman who is driven into tragedy due to old customs and prejudices against women.

1921년에 발표된 단편소설이다. 한국 초기 여성 소설가 중 한 사람인 나혜석의 작품이다. 다음 회를 예고했으나, 찾을 수 없어 미완성이다. 여성에 대한 구습과 편견으로 인해 비극으로 내몰리는 한 인물의 삶과 몰락을 다룬 작품이다.
