Sullae, a ten-year-old girl, returns home after two years. Her dad tells her to stay inside at home as much as possible, and not to talk to anyone she doesn’t know. Driven by curiosity, however, Sullae ventures outside and meets Yeongbok, a boy who defected from North Korea. The two secretly become friends. Meanwhile, Bak Pilsun, an old woman who lives alone, runs into Gwangsik, an old man in his sixties who has climbed over the fence to her house. Her encounter with the childlike Gwangsik makes her reflect on the past.
