2016년에 출간된 백수린의 소설집이다. 2014년 여름부터 2015년 가을까지 발표한 단편들을 모아서 출간한 것이다. 표제작을 비롯하여 <스트로베리 필드>, <중국인 할머니>, <북서쪽 항구> 등 모두 10편이 수록되어 있다. 작가는 소설집에 수록된 단편들에서 고립된 개인들의 고독과 세계의 이방인이라는 정체성, 두 개의 세계를 감각하는 인물들을 통해비참하고 참담한 현실을 보여주고 있다.

Published in 2016, The Wretched Light by Baik Sou Linne is a collection of short stories that had previously been included in various publications from the summer of 2014 to the fall of 2015. It contains ten short stories, including “Strawberry Field,” “My Chinese Grandmother,” “Northwest Port,” and the title story. The stories present a wretched and miserable reality as seen from the perspective of characters who can sense the loneliness of isolated individuals, or the identity of the outsider.
