This play by Kim Taeung was published in 2000, and later it was made into the film The King and the Jester, which was released in 2005. The novel version by Kim Hyeonjeong was published in 2006.  The play was inspired by The Veritable Records of Yeonsan-gun. The story is set in the time of Yeonsan-gun’s reign, with Gonggil the court jester as the main character.
