1959년 한국어로 번역 출간된 이미륵의 장편소설이다. 46년 독일에서 초판 발행된 후, 1954년 영역(英譯)되어 영국에서 출간되었고, 1956년 미국에서도 번역, 출간되었다.  작품은 작가의 유년시절부터 독일 유학시절까지의 체험을 회상형식으로 그리고있다.

This autobiographical novel written in German by Yi Mi-ruk was published in Germany in 1946. It was translated into English and published in the UK in 1954 and in the United States in 1956. It was translated into Korean and published in 1959. This autobiographical novel includes the writer’s childhood in Korea and his days as a student studying in Germany.
