2005년에 출간된 편혜영의 소설집이다. 작가는 소설집에서 모호한 세계에서 주체로 존재하지 못하는 사람들에 관한 이야기를 주로 다루었다. 표제작을 비롯하여 <저수지>, <맨홀>, <만국박람회>, <시체들> 등 모두 9편의 단편이 수록되어 있다.  부조리한 세계, 실종사건 발생, 미확인 시체의 등장 등 존재가 박탈된 사람들로 구성된 작가의 작품들은 균열된 일상의 참혹한 모습을 가감없이 보여준다.

Published in 2005, this collection of nine short stories by Pyun Hye Young deals with people who have been discarded or pushed to the very brink of the world. In these stories, including “Reservoir,” “Manhole,” “International Exposition,” and “Corpses,” the writer deals with mysterious deaths, missing people, or unidentifiable dead bodies as she exposes grotesque reality, the absurdity in life, and marginalized people whose meaning is denied by the world.
