- Japanese occupation; independence fighters
Koreans are persecuted under Japanese oppression, and when they protest, they are either shot to death or sentenced to jail. To fight against this injustice, Song Suik leaves for Manchuria and there, he becomes a leader of independence fighters. However, he is betrayed by his trusted friend, and he dies in jail after being tortured. His sons—Song Gawon and Song Jungwon—follow in the footsteps of their father and become independence fighters, and they finally hear the news of the Japanese surrender. However, Koreans living in Manchuria have their land and farms taken away by the Chinese, and they are forced to roam the country.
