    This is an introductory booklet on Eun Heekyung, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in March. This 29-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of A Gift from a Bird’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Park Jeong-joon, and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu ad Jan Rolf Janowski. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Eun Heekyung participated in literary events in Leipzig and Dresden (March) and at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion and Bad Berleburg (October). The German translation of her work A Gift from a Bird was published in 2005.

The German translation of A House on the Road was published in 2005, and won the LiBerature Award

Jon Kyongnin participated in literary events in Hamburg and Bremen in May. Her work ‘A Story about an Ordinary Polka-dot Dress’ is included in the short story collection of the same title published in Germany in 2004.

    This is an introductory booklet on novelist Kim Insuk, produced for literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and a nearby university. Between November 25 and December 2, Kim Insuk participated in literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and University of Guadalajara, where she gave a presentation titled “Together with Cats…”, engaged in discussion with literary researchers and answered questions from readers. In addition, she visited Instituto Alberici where she gave a joint reading with students and discussed her writing. She was interviewed by the local media outlets Milenio and Mural about her work That Woman’s Autobiography.     This is an introductory booklet on novelist Kim Insuk, produced for the 2014 London Book Fair Korea Market Focus. Kim Insuk participated in the literary seminar “Writing Home: Migrant Literature” (April 9, Whitehall Room), where she discussed how national and personal identity endured in foreign and faraway lands, and explored Korea’s relationship with the rest of the world through literary portrayals of Korean emigrants. In addition, she read from and discussed her novel The Long Road at Edinburgh Central Library on April 10. This 20-page booklet consists of: “About the Author”, “About the Work” and “Excerpts”. The excerpts are taken from Sohyeon and The Long Road.

    This is an introductory material on writer Eun Heekyung, produced for the Korea-Russia Literary Event. Eun participated in the “Korea-Russia Conversation with Writers” on October 23, followed by a poetry reading at Moscow State University in October 26, where she communed with local Russian students who were studying Korean literature. In addition, she presented the awards for the 4th Korean Literature Essay Contest in Russia, in which the participants were to read Eun’s novel Bimilgwa geojinmal (비밀과 거짓말, Secrets and Lies) and write essays, and spent time with the readers. The information booklet consists of 12 pages.

    This is an introductory material on the novelist Gong Ji-young, produced for the opening ceremony of the 2018 Korean Literature Essay Contest in Brazil and literary events. Gong Ji-young participated in the event when the essay on her book Our Happy Time (Nossas horas felizes) was selected as the winner of the grand prize at the Korean Literature Essay Contest organized by Brazil’s National Writers’ Association. On August 23, Gong attended the opening ceremony for the events held in the building of the National Writers’ Association had a discussion with Paulo José Cunha, a poet and professor of communications at the University of Brasilia. On August 27, she gave a special lecture in Rio de Janeiro at the invitation of the Brazilian Centre of PEN International. The introductory material on the author consists of: 1.     These are introductory materials for poet Moon Chung-hee and novelist Gong Ji-young, produced for a special literary conference held at the Korean Cultural Center Spain on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the "Night of Books" Festival in Spain, to which the two Korean female writers were invited. In the two-part conference held on April 22, novelist Gong Ji-young's work, Our Happy Time, was introduced and a discussion was held on the subject of “Women, Life, and Love.” The event was recorded and aired on the Spanish radio program titled “Planeta de los libros,” along with an interview with the author. On April 23, a discussion and reading session of Korean-Spanish female writers were held at Espacio B (Cultural Space) with five writers from both countries. The introductory material for novelist Gong Ji-young includes: 1. Author bio; 2. Introduction to her novel Our Happy Time; 3. an essay by the author (“Korean Literature Night in Spain”); and 4. An excerpt from the Spanish translation of her novel Our Happy Time.

    The theme of _List Vol. 8 is “Korea’s Next Generation.” This issue examines the cultural context and the trend of the new generation of writers in the Korean literary and publishing circles under the five subthemes “resistance toward generational divide,” “top stars,” “transboundary culture,” “answers met on the road,” and “passion for dreams.” In addition, this issue features interviews with novelists Gong Ji-Young and Kim Young-ha, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, and book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
