Sugungga is one of the five surviving pansori stories called madang, and the story is also known as The Song of the Rabbit or The Song of the Terrapin. The Dragon King of the Sea sends his servant, a terrapin, to bring a rabbit’s liver to cure his illness. The terrapin meets a rabbit and brings the rabbit to the sea palace, but the rabbit lies, says he left his liver at home, and runs away from being slaughtered.
