Plot

In shock after being sexually assaulted, Ji-yun rejects everything except her mother. Her parents live in pain, unable to take care of each other, as they suffer from the guilt of not being able to protect their daughter, but the perpetrator was only sentenced to 12 years in prison. Then one day, Ji-yun's father gets into a car accident, and Ji-yun's family begins to take care of each other once again. The family, driven to the brink of dissolution, gradually prepares to begin a new life.

This is a novel by So Jaewon, published in 2010 under the title Huimangui nalgaereul chajaseo (In Search of the Wings of Hope). In 2015, a revised version of the book was published and the title was changed to the current one. Inspired by the “Cho Doo-sun Incident” that occurred in 2008, this novel demonstrates the seriousness of sexual assault against children and raises the issue of punishing those involved. At the same time, it delicately depicts the incident itself as well as the pain of the victim and her family, who have to return to their daily lives after the incident. It was adapted into a film in 2013.

2010년에 <희망의 날개를 찾아서>로 출간된 소재원의 장편소설이다. 2015년에 개정판을 내면서 지금의 제목으로 바꿨다. 2008년에 발생한 '조두순사건'을 모티프로 삼아, 아동을 상대로한 성폭행 사건의 심각성을 고발하고 관련자 처벌을 위한 문제를 제기한 작품이다. 동시에 사건 그 자체뿐 아니라 사건 발생 이후에도 일상을 살아가야할 피해자와 그 가족들의 고통을 섬세하게 그려내었다. 2013년에 영화화되었다.
