Plot

Yu-jin transfers to a high school in a small town and is bullied by other kids. In response, she curses the students by performing the “bunshinsaba” incantation to repay the humiliation she experienced. However, when the curse begins to kill the other students one by one, she panics. The town falls into chaos, with people claiming that the successive deaths of students are not because of Yu-jin’s revenge, but because of what happened in the town a long time ago.

This is a novel by Lee Jongho, published in 2004. It was originally published under the title Monyeogui (Mother-daughter ghosts) in 2002, but after it was adapted into a film titled Bunshinsaba in 2004, the book was republished under the new title in 2004. A series of murders in a small town high school, and the town's old tragedy is revealed through the process of solving the murders. Elements that appear frequently in horror novels, such as bullying and curses, are appropriately placed in the novel to increase tension and suspense.

2004년에 출간된 이종호의 장편소설이다. 2002년 <모녀귀>라는 제목으로 출간되었으나 2004년에 <분신사바>로 영화가 제작된 후 제목을 바꿔 2004년에 재출간했다.  소도시의 고등학교에서 연쇄 살인사건이 일어나고 이를 해결하는 과정을 통해 마을의 오래된 비극이 드러난다. 집단 따돌림과 저주 등 공포소설에 자주 등장하는 요소들이 적절하게 배치되어 이야기의 긴장감을 높였다.
