Plot

The protagonist, Kim Hye-ryeon, is a mixed-race woman born to a Lithuanian-American mother and a Korean father. She is a highly regarded music director for musicals and conductor of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra. But behind her success lies frustration, loneliness, and a nomadic life.

This is a novel by Yi Mun-yol, published in 2011. Yi Mun-yol, who is one of the master writers of Korean literature, wrote this novel on the theme of “artist.” The main character Kim Hye-ryeon is a person with a multinational identity, and the author describes her sad but beautiful her love and the fate of the diaspora.
