1934년 <문학> 잡지에 발표된 김영랑의 시다. 시의 화자는 오랜 기다림이 무산되어버리는 절망감을 노래하면서도 마지막 행에 이르러 '찬란한 슬픔의 봄'을 기다리겠다는 의지를 드러낸다. '모란'이라는 대상을 통해 '기다림'의 정서를 형상화하고 있으며, 서정시의 원리를 극대화시킨 작품이라 평가된다.

Kim Yeong-nang’s poem “Until Peonies Bloom” was published in the literary magazine Literature in 1934. The poem describes the poet’s despair over the futility of waiting, and it ends with “I’ll still wait for my spring to come.” With the peony symbolizing his waiting and hoping, the poem is considered one of the most lyrical poems in Korean literature.
