Plot

Gwanchonsupil (Gwanchon Essays) consists of eight short stories. The first five are stories about the author’s childhood; the sixth story is about the author’s childhood friend from home whom the author encounters after leaving his hometown, and the last two stories focus on the author’s experiences after returning to his hometown.

This is a series of interconnected short stories written by Lee Mun-gu, published in 1977. This work addresses problems in rural Korea in the 1970s and depicts nostalgia for rural communities. It is considered a classic example of Korean farmer novels that criticize reckless industrialization and urge the restoration of humanism.

1977년에 출간된 이문구의 연작소설이다. 이 작품은 1970년대 농촌 문제를 다루며 농촌 공동체에 대한 향수를 그려낸다. 무분별한 산업화를 비판하며 휴머니즘의 회복을 촉구하는 한국 농민 소설의 전범이라 평가된다.
