2009년에 출간된 시인 황동규의 열네 번째 시집이다. 총 64편의 시가 4부로 나뉘어 수록되어 있다. 이 시집은 오랜 병고의 경험 이후 자신의 몸과 그 몸의 고통을 시로 표현해냈다. 시인은 쇠약해진 육체를 자신의 삶으로서 받아들이고, 그것을 통해 삶의 환희를 찾아내는 과정을 노래한다. 이전의 시들이 현실과 역사와 같은 외부를 시로 표현해왔다면, 이 시집에서는 육체적 고통과 그로 인한 내적 성찰을 주제로 삼아 새로운 시적 경향을 드러낸다고 평가된다.

Published in 2009, this is the fourteenth collection of Hwang Tonggyu’s poems. The book deals with physical pain and suffering and is based on his own experience of struggling against an illness. In the poems, the poet accepts his old and decrepit body and searches for the joy of life. Unlike his previous poems, which deal with history or reality, the poet examines his own pain and subsequent realizations.
