Plot

The students who go on a school trip in 2014 die in the Sewol ferry tragedy. Divers gather to retrieve the bodies of students from the sunken ship and the sea, but they are frustrated when they are accused of trying to make money off of this business.

This novel is written in the form of a reportage about the allegations of manslaughter and accusations faced by divers who jumped into the sea to collect the bodies of students in the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014. The restrained expressions and thorough investigation in the book perfectly conveys the pain of the Sewol ferry tragedy.

2014년 세월호 참사 당시 학생들의 시신이라도 구하기 위해 바다에 뛰어들었던 잠수사들이 직면했던 비난과 업무상과실치사 혐의 등에 대해서 르포르타주 형식으로 풀어낸 소설이다. 특히 절제된 문장과 치밀한 조사가 세월호참사의 고통을 잘 드러내었다.
