he Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) (President: Kim Sa-in) held a publication event for novelist Hwang Jungeun in Tokyo, Japan, from April 3rd to 5th. The event was centered on Someone Who is No One, and Savage Alice, which were both published in Japan earlier this year. Hwang met with local readers and was interviewed by members of the Japanese press. Someone Who is No One, published in Japan in February, was the focus book for the session on April 3rd. About 40 readers attended the book club event at Tokyo’s bookstore district of Jinbo-cho. The book is the first of Hwang’s short story anthologies to be published in the country, and the fourth in the "Gifts from Korean Literature" series that Shobunsha has been publishing since the second half of 2017 under an agreement with LTI Korea. Literary critic Kuramoto Saori, and Saito Mariko, the translator of the book, joined the event, allowing for an in-depth discussion with readers.
