Source: https://www.amboanthos.nl/boek/de-aanklacht/

The AccusationEnglish(English) Available
Bandi / 반디 / 2017 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century > Short Story
The Accusation is a deeply moving and eye-opening work of fiction that paints a powerful portrait of life under the North Korean regime. Set during the period of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il's leadership, the seven stories that make up The Accusation give voice to people living under this most bizarre and horrifying of dictatorships. The characters of these compelling stories come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from a young mother living among the elite in Pyongyang whose son misbehaves during a political rally, to a former Communist war hero who is deeply disillusioned with the intrusion of the Party into everything he holds dear, to a husband and father who is denied a travel permit and sneaks onto a train in order to visit his critically ill mother. Written with deep emotion and writing talent, The Accusation is a vivid depiction of life in a closed-off one-party state, and also a hopeful testament to the humanity and rich internal life that persists even in such inhumane conditions. DENUNZIATIONGerman(Deutsch) E-Book Available
Bandi / 반디 / 2017 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century > Short Story
VádiratHungarian(Magyar) Funded by LTI Korea Available
Bandi / 반디 / 2017 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century > Short Story
Észak-Koreáról keveset tudunk. Az országgal kapcsolatos híreket a nukleáris és rakétakísérletek, vagy a kommunista dinasztia aktuális uralkodójának külső szemlélő számára megdöbbentő kinyilatkozásai, tettei dominálják. Belső világáról, az emberek hétköznapjairól, gondjaikról, bánataikról imitt-amott jelentek meg írások, főként észak-koreai menekültek tollából, olyanokéból, akiknek sikerült megszökniük az északi rendszer poklából. A Vádirat azonban az első mű, melynek írója ma is Észak-Koreában él. A személyével kapcsolatos részletek a szerző védelme érdekében homályban maradnak. Source: https://libri.libricsoport.hu/fooldal/konyvek/vadirat/

Baek Namyong et al / 백남룡 / 2011 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century
The Red YearsEnglish(English) E-Book Available
Bandi / 반디 / 2019 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Poetry > 21st century poetry
Though North Korea holds the attention of the world, it is still rare for us to hear North Korean voices, beyond those few who have escaped. Known only by his pen name, the poet and author Bandi stands as one of the most distinctive and original dissident writers to emerge from the country, and his work is all the more striking for the fact that he continues to reside in North Korea, writing in secret, with his work smuggled out of the country by supporters and relatives. The Red Years represents the first collection of Bandi’s poetry to be made available in English. As he did in his first work The Accusation, Bandi here gives us a rare glimpse into everyday life and survival in North Korea. Singularly poignant and evocative, The Red Years stands as a testament to the power of the human spirit to endure and resist even the most repressive of regimes. FriendEnglish(English) Available
Baek Namyong et al / 백남룡 / 2020 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century
Paek Nam-nyong’s Friend is a tale of marital intrigue, abuse, and divorce in North Korea. A woman in her thirties comes to a courthouse petitioning for a divorce. As the judge who hears her statement begins to investigate the case, the story unfolds into a broader consideration of love and marriage. The novel delves into its protagonists’ past, describing how the couple first fell in love and then how their marriage deteriorated over the years. It chronicles the toll their acrimony takes on their son and their careers alongside the story of the judge’s own marital troubles. A best-seller in North Korea, where Paek continues to live and write, Friend illuminates a side of life in the DPRK that Western readers have never before encountered. Far from being a propagandistic screed in praise of the Great Leader, Friend describes the lives of people who struggle with everyday problems such as marital woes and workplace conflicts. Instead of socialist-realist stock figures, Paek depicts complex characters who wrestle with universal questions of individual identity, the split between public and private selves, the unpredictability of existence, and the never-ending labor of maintaining a relationship. This groundbreaking translation of one of North Korea’s most popular writers offers English-language readers a page-turner full of psychological tension as well as a revealing portrait of a society that is typically seen as closed to the outside world. Bandi / 반디 / 2018 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century > Short Story
A acusaçãoPortuguese(Português) Available
Bandi / 반디 / 2018 / KDC구분 > literature > Korean Literature > Korean Fiction > 21st century > Short Story
