This book features a total of 80 poems, selected from So Chong Ju’s poetry collections Hwasajip (화사집 Flower snake poems, 1941), Gwichokdo (귀촉도 Nightingale, 1946), o Chong-ju Siseon (서정주 시선 Selected poems of So Chong-ju, 1956), Sillacho (신라초 The essence of Silla, 1961), and Dongcheon (동천 Winter sky, 1968), as well as from poems written after Dongcheon in Seojeongju munhak jeonjip 1 (서정주 문학 전집 1 Complete works of So Chong Ju 1), published in 1972. This book also includes explanatory notes written by Yutaka Shirakawa and Eiji Kono.

이 책은 서정주의 시집 『화사집』(1941), 『귀촉도』(1946), 『서정주 시선』(1956), 『신라초』(1961), 『동천』(1968)에 수록된 시들과 1972년 발행된 『서정주 문학 전집 1』에 수록된 『동천』 이후의 시들 가운데서 총 80편의 시를 선별하여 소개하고 있는 선집이다. 시라카(白川豊)와 유타카와 고노 에이지(鴻農映二)의 해설도 수록되어 있다.
