This collection of essays from the 2006 Seoul Young Writers’ Festival contains messages from the President of LTI Korea and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and essays by 36 writers. The festival took place on May 7~13, 2006 in Seoul, Youngju and Andong.

The theme of KLN Vol. 58 is “The Manifold Ways We Experience Literature.” Through four essays written by people in publishing and the readers, this issue introduces various ways in which Korean literature is experienced. This issue also presents an interview with the Featured Writer Kim Kyung-uk, the full text of the translation of his short story “A Sheepish Story,” and an essay on Kim’s literary world by literary critic Kang Yu Jung. The Bookmark section presents translations of Woo Dayoung’s “With a Knife Between Us,” Han Junghyun’s “Princess of the Night,” as well as four poems by Jin Eun-young and Ahn Miok, and the second installment in the series The Story of Jeon Unchi.

Under the theme of “Community of Memory,” poet Jang Mi-do explores the role that literature and storytelling can play within a community in the face of social tragedies, through poems, including Jin Eun-young’s “After That Day,” Kim Hyun’s “Life Is,” Kim Hyesoon’s “I Want to Go to the Island,” and Lee Young ju’s “We Cannot Start Our Sorrow.”
