This is an introductory booklet on Eun Heekyung, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in March. This 29-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of A Gift from a Bird’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Park Jeong-joon, and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu ad Jan Rolf Janowski. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Eun Heekyung participated in literary events in Leipzig and Dresden (March) and at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion and Bad Berleburg (October). The German translation of her work A Gift from a Bird was published in 2005.

This is an introductory material on writer Eun Heekyung, produced for the Korea-Russia Literary Event. Eun participated in the “Korea-Russia Conversation with Writers” on October 23, followed by a poetry reading at Moscow State University in October 26, where she communed with local Russian students who were studying Korean literature. In addition, she presented the awards for the 4th Korean Literature Essay Contest in Russia, in which the participants were to read Eun’s novel Bimilgwa geojinmal (비밀과 거짓말, Secrets and Lies) and write essays, and spent time with the readers. The information booklet consists of 12 pages.

The theme of _List Vol. 11 is “Korean Children’s Fantasy Books.” This issue introduces 32 books that fall under the subthemes of “pioneering Korean fantasy,” “entry to myths, folktales, and legends,” “children’s fantasy books on animals in the new era,” and “children’s stories that reflect reality.” In addition, this issue features interviews with picture book artist Baek Heena and novelist Eun Heekyung, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, author’s notes by poet Moon Chung-hee, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature, and the translation of Oh Chae’s Everyday Folkdance and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
