    Korean Literature Now (KLN), a literary journal produced and distributed to introduce Korean literature and writers to the general public and experts abroad and form a discourse on Korean literature, accepts and publishes publishers’ and literary critics’ reviews of translated works of Korean literature that have been published outside of Korea. This is a review of the Chinese translation of Kim Choyeop’s If We Can’t Go at the Speed of Light.

The collection’s delightful and inventive short stories amuse the readers through humorous first-person narratives and magical realism while addressing heavy themes, such as grief, depression, and loss. The review expresses hope that Lee’s short stories will resonate with English-speaking readers and reveal a fresh charm of contemporary Korean fiction.

    The theme of KLN Vol. 62 is “Outside the Book, Inside the Bookshop.” In the Cover Feature essays, bookstore owners and a writer discuss their own literary experiences. This issue includes an interview with the Featured Writer Yi Won, English translation of her works, and an essay on her works. The Bookmark section features two works of fiction, Kim Byungwoon’s “September Is a Prayer for the Estranged” and Seo Ije’s “Low Resolution,” as well as two poems each by poets Lee Jenny and Go Myeongjae, while the Inkstone section features an English translation of the classical novel “The Tale of a Young Maiden of the Yu Family.” Book reviews have been written by translators, editors, and writers. This issue features reviews of five books—Kim Bo-young’s On the Origin of Species and Other Stories, Cheon Seonran’s A Thousand Blues, Kim Ho-yeon’s Uncanny Convenience Store, Chang Kang-myoung’s Pasukan Buzzer, and Kim Hyesoon’s Autobiography of Death.
