Plot

Hyeonbo meets Namjuk by chance while creating the theater company Munhwajwa. Seven years ago, Namjuk had lived like a flower, helping out at her sister's bookstore and dreaming of becoming an actress or musician. However, she is now exhausted from her life in Seoul and wants to leave for her hometown, but she has not been able to find her travel expenses. After spending time with Namjuk and eventually making love to her, Hyeonbo falls in love with her and gets money to leave Seoul with her without his father's knowledge. But when he finds Namjuk, she had already spent the night with the millionaire's son, gotten the money for her travels, and left for her hometown to finance her travels. The problem arises after that: both Hyeonbo and the millionaire's son have contracted syphilis.

Descriptions(Languages 2)

The title of this work, “The Sick Rose,” refers to the corruption of Namjuk. It depicts the depravity and wretched reality of young people who once had dreams but were frustrated by the times.
