1970년 출간된 강신재의 소설집이다. 표제작<파도>는 일제시대 말을 배경으로 자매의 유년시절과 연애, 결혼 등 여성으로서의 일생을 그리고 있다. 작가는 여성의 삶이 지니는 굴곡과 비극을 사실적으로 다루고 있다.

This collection of short stories by Kang Shin-Jae was published in 1970. Set in a Korean village during the late Japanese colonial period, the title story “The Waves” depicts the lives of two half-sisters, Yeongsil and Sinsil, as well as the many villagers who populate the story. The author gives a realistic account of the various tragedies of normal village life and the women’s vicissitudes of fortune.
