1976년에 출간된 황순원의 소설집이다. <황순원 전집>(제5권)에 속한다. 표제작인 <탈> 외에 <소리 그림자>, <마지막 잔>, <나무와 돌 그리고>등이 수록되어 있다. 소설집에 수록된 작품들은 노년과 죽음의 문제를 주로 다루고 있다. 특히 삶과 죽음, 인간의 근원 등이 서로 대립하는 것이 아니라 서로 조화를 이루는 것임을 중점적으로 드러내고 있다.

This collection of stories by Hwang Sun-Won was published in 1976, and forms the fifth volume of The Complete Collections of Hwang Sun-Won. In addition to the title story, this collection includes “Shadows of a Sound,” “The Last Drink,” and “A Tree, a Rock and ….” The stories in the collection mostly deal with the themes of old age and death. In particular, they emphasize the complementary – rather than the opposing – nature of the relationship between life, death, and the essence of the human being.
