2001년에 출간된 오세영 시인의 열한 번째 시집이다. 1부 '시 한 줄', 2부 '눈물', 3부 '젖은 눈', 4부 '가을비 소리'로 구성되어 있으며, 각 15편씩 총 60편의 시가 수록되어 있다. 시집은 연애에 관한 시이면서 동시에 그러한 차원을 넘어서는 득도의 세계를 향한다. 그러나 그것은 삶을 초월하는 깨달음이라기보다 인간적이면서도 우리의 마음을 울리는 색다른 깨달음을 준다는 평가를 받는다.

Oh Sae-young’s eleventh collection of poems, The Light of Death, was published in 2001. It is composed of four sections (“A Line of Poetry,” “Tears,” “Eyes Wet with Tears,” and “The Sound of Autumn Rain”), each containing fifteen poems. Though the central theme of the book is romantic love, Oh goes beyond the confines of the topic, venturing into the realm of spiritual awakening. Rather than the transcendent kind, however, the enlightenment offered in the poems is both human and emotionally resonant.
