Published in 1939, this first collection by Kim Gwangkyun introduces 27 of his poems including the title poem “Gas Light,” which is considered one of the most representative modernist poems from the 1930s. The combination of lyricism and modernism is also evident in the collection’s other poems, such as “Snowy Night” and “Foreigner’s Village.”

1939년에 출간된 김광균 시인의 첫 시집이다. 김광균 시인의 대표작인 <와사등>을 포함하여 27편의 시가 수록되어 있다. <와사등>은 1930년대 한국의 대표적인 모더니즘 시로 평가되며, 시집에 수록된 <외인촌>, <설야> 등은 서정성과 현대성의 융합을 지향하는 시인의 의식을 엿볼 수 있다.
