Plot

The protagonist, Adam, fails to get into college and prepares to study for the following year’s college entrance exam. However, he quits cram school and spends his time reading books in the library or making love with Eun-seon, Hyeon-jae, and an artist. Eventually he returns to his studies and gets accepted to the university of his choice, but he purchases a typewriter with the money for his tuition and decides to become a writer.

This is a novella by Jang Jung-il, published in 1990. It depicts the frustration, wandering, and search for a better future of the younger generations, who resisted the existing order, ethics, and taboos in the early 1990s, when old values were crumbling.
