Plot

Yeong-suk, the manager of the tea house Anemone, adorns herself and waits for a student who has been frequenting the tea room for ten months, thinking that he has a crush on her. But in fact, the student visited the tea room out of sorrow that his love for a professor’s wife couldn’t be realized. Realizing that she had been misreading the situation, Yeong-suk stops getting dolled up.

This is a short story by Chu Yo-Sup, published in Jogwang in January 1936. It paints the feelings of Yeong-suk, from her misunderstanding and unrequited love, in a detailed yet lighthearted style.
